HCLA held the second day of the course “National courts and International Rule of Law” on Tuesday, with a lecture on “the international legal order, international organizations and immunity.
The lecture was delivered by Professor Niels Blokker from Leiden University. During the lecture professor Blokker touched upon various issues regarding the importance of international organizations, their function and the importance of recognition of their immunity for their independence.
At the end of the lecture participants exchanged their views on the issue of immunity and raised various questions.
On February 2nd, the registrar of International Court of Justice hosted the participants of the course “National courts and the International Rule of Law.
His Excellency, Mr. Philippe Couvreur, briefed the guests on the history and functions of the courts since its foundation in 1946 and received their questions.
After the session with the registrar, the participants were taken for a tour in the Peace Palace, during which the history of the building was shared with them in details.
